Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum: The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is running three days of educational programs to celebrate and learn about Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Kids and their family members can watch puppet shows, make posters and learn about protest marching, and contribute to the Community Dream Cloud, and cap it off with a volunteer project on Monday, Jan. 17.

“Summer of Soul” screening and discussion: To commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and NYC Winter Jazzfest’s 2022 theme, “Feel Good,” Jazzfest hosts a screening of “Summer of Soul (…or, when the revolution could not be televised,)” the directorial debut of the musician Questlove, which features never-before-seen footage of the Harlem Cultural festival and interviews with the people who created and attended the festival. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Questlove, the film’s producer, and Nwaka Onwusa, Chief Curator of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

K.C. Jones & Her Honkytonk Playboys: Louisiana-based singer K.C. Jones performs songs from her new album, “Queen of the In Between,” with guests Chris Stafford and Trey Boudreaux accompanying on instrumentals. Following the performance, K.C., Trey and Chris will be joined by Raphael Macgregor and Larry Eagle for a good old-fashioned honky-tonk dance party.
